We have a selection of a la carte classes for elementary-aged students (Kindergarten through 5th grade) in the afternoon, following the Junior Co-op Program. All families with elementary-aged students are eligible to take à la carte Elementary Classes in the afternoon, even if they are not registered in the morning Junior Co-op Program.
At least one parent or adult family representative is required to remain on campus at all times with Elementary students and serve in an assigned role. That means parents cannot send their child to Co-op under the guardianship of another LAF parent/guardian or family already in attendance. If a parent or guardian is not present with a child, the child will not be permitted to attend Co-op that day.
We will have on-site care for infants during these classes. If you have walkers or preschoolers who are not enrolled in the Mommy and Me classes, please let us know, and we will make sure that you are assigned to a service position that can also accomodate those little ones.
Elementary A La Carte Classes
Each a la carte class is $590 for the entire year.
This price includes any lab fees.
LAF is a Direct Provider!
To cover costs for the LAF Co-op, log into your EMA account, visit the Marketplace, and choose Learning and Families from the list of direct providers. Be sure to register for classes through your Parent Portal as well, and we will apply the scholarship funds when we receive them.

Bless This Mess Art
(K – 5th Grade)
Facilitator: Shelley Kishpaugh
Course Description
This class covers all the art you don’t want to do at home!
Get ready to roll up your sleeves, get a little messy, and create without worry! Bless This Mess Art is a hands-on, joy-filled class where students explore all the fun (and wonderfully chaotic) art projects that are often too big, too splattery, or too hard to clean up at home.
In this class, students will experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques such as paint pouring, paper mache, clay sculpting, mixed media, textile art, printmaking, and more. We’ll focus on creativity over perfection, encouraging students to take risks, try new ideas, and enjoy the process of making art.
Each project is designed to build confidence and spark imagination, while embracing the beauty of a good mess. Best of all, we handle the cleanup!
Perfect for curious creators who love to explore, invent, and get their hands dirty—because sometimes the best learning happens when things get a little messy.
Required Materials
- Dedicated “Paint Clothes and Shoes”—children and adults in the room must wear clothing and shoes that are appropriate for messy, staining materials every day for class. We will not use either aprons or smocks, as both pose tripping and strangulation hazards. So, dedicated clothing that can be ruined is required.
Chinese

We will practice writing with water on a Chinese writing cloth/board, it will look like black ink, but it’s only using water, so no mess! Kids will practice speaking with partners and also put together an interactive project, such as a pretend Chinese restaurant. Families are welcome to learn Chinese on Duolingo as a supplement.
Required Materials
- Chinese dictionary book
- Brush and water cloth
- Character pages for tracing

(4th – 12th grades)
Facilitator: Erin Aleo
Room: 428
Course Description
“Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”—Ezekiel 47:12 In this hands-on class, students will explore God’s creation through plants, natural remedies, and traditional homestead skills. Each week, we will learn about herbs and their uses while making practical items such as salves, herbal oils, teas, soaps, sprays, and more. Rooted in a biblical perspective, students will be encouraged to see the beauty, purpose, and provision God has placed in the natural world. This class emphasizes simple skills that can be used in everyday life, along with creativity, stewardship, and appreciation for God’s design. Students will leave with a variety of handmade items and a growing understanding of how plants can be used in the home.
