This year\, the Learning and Families graduation will take place on Friday\, May 19\, 2023 at Covenant Life Presbyterian Church\, 8490 McIntosh Rd\, Sarasota\,  FL  34238. \nWe are hosting an information meeting in Sarasota off Lockwood Ridge Rd (north of University) on September 7th at 6:30 pm to begin brainstorming and planning for this year’s ceremony. We invite families to be involved in the planning process\, so they really feel like the graduation is their own. You and your graduate are invited to attend. Bring a snack or dessert to share. DESCRIPTION:Our annual Field Day is always held on the 1st Friday in December at a park in Manasota. All Field Day participants will have the opportunity to compete against each other in many classic Field Day games and relay races. \nThere are preschool activities as well as games\, and the park has two age-appropriate playgrounds. We also typically have food and shaved ice available for purchase. \nLast year we celebrated LAF’s 35th Anniversary and had a bake sale and face painting. Every year is a just little bit different\, but we always have an epic kickball competition\, as well as relay races\, tug of war\, sack races\, hula hoop marathons\, and much\, much more! \nAll of the event information will be listed in the Facebook Event on the Facebook LAF Community Support page five weeks before the date of the Field Day. \nField Day is fun for the whole family. SUMMARY:Valentine's Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Valentine’s Exchange and Friendship Celebration is held on the Tuesday before Valentine’s day at a local park. Each student participating makes or purchases a Valentine’s box that can hold approximately 50 valentines. They also make or purchase 50 valentines to distribute. \nThe Valentines can be candy or non-candy items and can be as simple or as creative as you want. \nFamilies meet at a park after Tuesday Co-op to eat lunch and play. The actual exchange starts at 2:15 when the participants line up their Valentine boxes with their age group and drop their Valentine’s in the boxes. \nEach family is asked to bring a small sweet or salty snack to share as well. \nAll of the event information will be listed in the Facebook Event on the Facebook LAF Community Support page five weeks before the date of the Valentine’s Exchange\, and all ages are welcome to join. \nAll families enrolled in the LAF Support Community  are invited to join in the fun. \nIn the event of rain (as was the case in 2022)\, we will move the Valentine’s Exchange to the Co-op gymnasium.

SUMMARY:Junior Co-op Egg Drop Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Egg Drop Challenge is for all LAF students this year. \nIt is held on the west side of the CLC building (see location below). \nThe students are challenged to create a system to protect a raw egg from cracking or breaking from a high fall. They can use any materials they want to protect their egg so it survives the fall. \nAll of the event information will be listed in the Facebook Event on the Facebook LAF Community Support page five weeks before the date of the Egg Drop. \nAll families with students from preschool through 12th grade enrolled in the LAF Support Community are encouraged to participate. \n1:00 PM — Pre-K through 5th Graders \n2:15 PM — Middle and High Schoolers

DESCRIPTION:Our annual Trunk-or-Treat is held the week before Halloween in the parking lot of the west side of the building (see address below) at 1 pm. We we would love for 20 LAF families to volunteer to host and decorate their trunks in a non-scary theme. All LAF families participating will bring a bag of candy to be distributed to the trunks. \nThere are always other activities and treats\, such as shaved ice and cotton candy. All of the event information will be listed in the Facebook Event on the Facebook LAF Community Support page five weeks before the date of the Trunk-or-Treat. \nAll families enrolled in the LAF Support Community are invited to join in the fun. \nAll Middle and High school students are welcome to participate as long as they are in a costume. \nWant to Host a Trunk?\nSign up to decorate a trunk for our Annual Trunk Treat event. We will need you to arrive at Sarasota Alliance Church no later than 12:30 pm to park and set up your trunk. Decorate your trunk with any non-scary theme you like. You can use any materials that you like to protect your egg so it will SURVIVE the fall! \nThere will be a participation prize for all contestants and special prizes for the most creative\, best design\, most unusual material used\, and many other categories! – The Egg drop will take place at Co-op on March 5th. \n1:30 start time for Preschool-5th Grade \n2:15 start time for our Middle and High school students.
